DC Poverty Commission DEMOGRAPHIC REPORT

Abstract

The DC Poverty Commission sought to understand how residents feel about poverty in the District. Additionally, there was a desire to articulate which indicators affect poverty across the District. This presentation of data explores both.

The first part of the presentation collects data from focus groups and prior reports from the past two years and summarizes the work completed by the Commission through June 2024.

The second part gathers a combination of public and District agency data to uncover any insights that lend themselves to future poverty reduction policies.

This information will be embedded into the final step of the process, which is designing policy based on communication from residents and connecting any dots uncovered through demographic data analysis.
